Olive oil competitions in a covid era

2020  and 2021 , the years that,  are changing our life , are  affecting also the way that the olive oil competitions are taking place . 

A difficult international scenario , with limits on people movement,  has changed the way of judging the extra virgin olive oil .

No more physical judging , but remote on line judging. 

People, around the world are  sitting in front of a screen, tasting olive oil from small hermetic  closed bottles, trying to give a verdet on the quality of a product , send them from another part of the globe , thinking of the producer that have made it and trying to score it . If you think it is an easy job , beleave me it is too difficult , mostly because it is difficult to enter in the correct mood , it is difficult to concentrate , it is difficult to pass 2-3 hours without external inputs . last year when we have start judging this way , most of us were very stressed about it , this year was easer , but still difficult . My opinion is that most of the judges raced the scope and most of the competitions that decided to do it this way succeeded . It was difficult , yes , but all the top judges have done it and they did it the correct way , so beleave me , the producers can be sure that their product was in the right hands once again and the final result was the right result . The next days we will see more and more competitions to announce this year’s winners , I have just to say , good luck to all .
